Cut Out Stencil Spray

Firstly I:
-Picked an image with a mix of lights and darks
-Cut out the background
-Turned it black and white
-Used the Cutout filter to get the layers
-Separated the colours
-Cut out the print outs
-Finally... SPRAY PAINT !!!

Next I scanned in the photos and used threshold to sharpen the paint...

Then I added a colour overlay...

I repeated this on the second layer...

I added an effect of small parts of purple by changing the blend mode...

Finally I moved the two layers into position...

Drawing in Illustrator

Using the pen tool I created simple shapes...

Then, using the pathfinder I joined these simple shapes...

To give my drawings a sketchy look, I used the brushes I made and changed the lines...

After I copied my finished images into photoshop, I moved them around untilI was happy with the finished look...

Work In Progress...

Colourise

After minutes of altering the saturation and deciding upon a colour, I found one I was happy with :)

Gradient

It took a while to find a filter that suited the image...

Levels

From the original, there isn't much difference other than an increase in the brightness which altered the colour of the leaves highlighting them...

Light Leaks

At first I played around, painting in colours here and there, but it look a little crazy...

After deciding what I wanted highlighted with light leaks and fiddled with the opacity, I found the right balance...

Overlay

First I found an image of stars to link back to the theme of my book. I placed the new picture on a new layer and used the lighten effect to bring forward the swing image.
